Critter Commute, Boulder Works and other Hypercausal games · Last updated 10 October 2026
This policy explains what data our games collect, why, and the choices you have. "We" means Hypercausal, the developer of Critter Commute and Boulder Works. It applies to each of these games.
The short version
- You don't create an account, and we never ask for your name, email or phone number.
- Your game progress is stored on your phone only.
- The game shows ads (Google AdMob), measures how the game is played (Google Analytics for Firebase), measures which ad brought you to the game (Singular), reports crashes (Sentry), and can send reminders (Firebase Cloud Messaging) if you turn them on. These services receive some device and usage data, described below.
- Purchases are handled by Google Play. We never see your card or payment details.
Data collected and why

| Advertising ID, app-set ID, app instance ID | Showing and measuring ads, analytics, fraud prevention | AdMob, Firebase |
| Approximate location (from your IP address) | Choosing ads for your region, fraud prevention | AdMob |
| Gameplay events (levels started and finished, taps on ads and store items) | Improving the game | Firebase, AdMob |
| Purchase history (which item, when; no payment details) | Understanding which items players like | Firebase |
| Push notification token (only if you turn reminders on) | Sending the reminders you asked for | Firebase Cloud Messaging |
| Crash reports and diagnostics (device model, OS version, error details) | Finding and fixing bugs | Sentry, Firebase, AdMob |
| Advertising ID, app-set ID, install referrer, approximate location (from IP), gameplay milestones (tutorial finished, levels 5/10/20/40 reached, returning the next day) and purchase amounts | Finding out which ad campaign brought players to the game and whether it worked. Singular passes these results to the ad network that ran the ad (Meta, TikTok, Google) | Singular, and through it Meta, TikTok, Google Ads |
We do not collect your name, email, contacts, photos, microphone, precise location or browsing history. Our crash reporting is set not to store IP addresses.
Your choices
- EEA, UK and Switzerland: on first launch the game asks for your consent through Google's consent message. If you decline, you still get the full game; ads are non-personalised and analytics storage is limited. You can change your choice any time in the game's Settings under Privacy. Ad measurement (Singular) only starts if you consent to it.
- United States: you can opt out of the sale or sharing of your data for advertising in the game's Settings under Privacy choices. Ad measurement then runs in limited-data mode.
- Everywhere: you can reset or delete your advertising ID, or opt out of personalised ads, in your phone's Settings → Google → Ads (or Privacy → Ads).
- Notifications: the game's reminders are scheduled on your phone. If you turn reminders on, we may also send an occasional reminder through Firebase Cloud Messaging. You can turn them off in the game's Settings or in your phone's settings.
Third-party services
These services process data under their own policies:
- Google AdMob, Google Analytics for Firebase and Firebase Cloud Messaging: policies.google.com/privacy and how Google uses data from apps
- Google Play (purchases): policies.google.com/privacy
- Sentry (crash reports): sentry.io/privacy
- Singular (ad attribution): singular.net/privacy-policy
- Meta (ad measurement, if you came from a Meta ad): facebook.com/privacy/policy
- TikTok (ad measurement, if you came from a TikTok ad): ads.tiktok.com privacy policy
Keeping and deleting data
Your game progress lives on your phone. Uninstalling the game deletes it. Because there is no account, we hold nothing that identifies you by name. Analytics and crash data are kept by the services above for their standard retention periods. To ask about or request deletion of data linked to your device, email us with your request and we'll help within 30 days.
Children
The game is intended for players aged 13 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you think a child has used the game and want data removed, contact us.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
